Thank you for taking the time to visit our website and acquire information about Dental Implant procedures and Dental Implant Courses. As I'm sure you're aware, the placing and restoring of Dental Implants is fast becoming a major part of Dental practices. Hundreds of thousands of Dental Implants are placed yearly by General Dentists and Dental Specialists throughout the world. A decade ago, if you searched the Internet for Dental Practices that offered Dental Implants, you would find only a few in the general vicinity of your Dental Practice. Now, in every province in Canada, and throughout the United States and other countries, hundreds of General Dentists and Dental Specialists are offering and performing Dental Implant procedures.
Many Courses, both Domestic and International, are being offered to provide Dentists with the knowledge and skills to perform Implant procedures safely and with predictable outcomes for their patients. Many Dental Implant organizations require examinations for competence and for accreditation in Dental Implant procedures The membership in these Organizations contain some of the best known Dentists in Implant Dentistry ... including those who have written text books that are used in Dental Schools in major Universities and throughout the world.
The key to success in this quickly emerging area of Dentistry is EDUCATION, and Clinical Experience ... not only to protect the health of your Patients, but also to protect your reputation, and that of your your Staff and your Dental Practice. Every Dentist, at some time in their career, has experienced the stress of a failed procedure. That is why 'Continuing Education' has become a prerequisite for maintaining a Dental licence. Some of our Course Participants, even those with many years of Dental experience, expressed anticipatory anxiety about the thought of performing the surgical aspects of Dental Implant procedures. We have managed to assuage their fears or concerns, by demonstrating with LIVE SURGERIES, and 'hands-on' procedures that Dental Implant procedures are just another step adding to their fundamental skills, and vast knowledge of Dental procedures. Attending a didactic Dental Implant Course, although providing a great deal of valuable information through videos and lectures, is often not enough to give a Dentist the confidence to actually place a Dental Implant.
We hope to see you at one of our Courses.
FROM DR. ROBERT LEIGH (DR. 'ROB'): "I am a General Dentist, and have been practicing Dentistry since 1975, after graduating from the University of Western Ontario Dental School with a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. Prior to that, I graduated from the University of Guelph with an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree. Before entering Dental School, I was working on a Master's Degree in Physiology at the University of Western Ontario. Shortly after graduating from Western, I became increasingly interested in Dental Implants, and viewed them as a new option for replacing missing teeth or stabilizing dentures. I recall, at that time, that dental implants were viewed with scepticism, but now are recognized as a viable treatment option worldwide. Now, hundreds of thousands of dental implants are placed yearly by thousands of dentists (General Dentists and Dental Specialists) throughout the world, with excellent success.
Like all dentists in Alberta, as a practicing Dentist, and in order to maintain my license, I am required by the Alberta Dental Association + College to maintain an educational standard through continuing education programs. In an effort to become more proficient, throughout my dental career I have maintained my continuing education. If you contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org, or use our "Contact" page, I will be happy to send you a copy of my Curriculum Vitae and experience in Dental Implant treatments.
I believe that it is extremely important for patients to be informed about the qualifications and experience of the dental professional who may be placing or restoring Dental Implants. I consider it an obligation to my patients to keep abreast of the most recent advancements, and to fully inform them of my qualifications in Dental Implants. All of the members of my team are Registered Dental Assistants (R.D.A.) Level II, and are members of the Association of Dental Implant Auxiliaries and Practice Management (an affiliate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists)."

At present, there are no Dental Implant "Specialists". Implant Dentistry is not recognized as a "Specialty". With the proper training, however, all Dentists in Alberta (General Dentists and Specialists in other Dental fields, e.g. Oral Surgeons, Prosthodontists, etc.), can perform Dental Implant procedures, but they cannot say that they "specialize" in Dental Implants, or are "Specialists" in Dental Implant procedures.
